someone with legal knowledge please?

ok heres the deal. i stole a $25 necklace from a retail store, got a call from the police (license plate) admitted i did it. went to the station admitted i did it and then the store wants to press charges. cop gives me a summons.
two questions- 1. will i go to jail? community service? probation?
2. will this go on my record? i found it odd that something small ( i understand i broke a law) would end up on my record when there are other cases that much worse things happen and people get away. thanks for your help. i live in maine

WELL ONE THING U SHOULD NEVER ADMIT NUFFIN EVEN IF U KNO U DID IT..THATS UP TO ME....IF THIS IS UR FIRST OFFENSE THEY CAN PUT U IN A PROGRAM CALLED ARD..I THINK U HAVE TO BE IN THE PROGRAM FOR A YEAR IN WHEN THAT YEAR IS OVER..BUT U CANT GET LOCKED UP AT NO TIME WHEN UR IN THE PROGRAM..ONCE U FINISH THEY TAKE IT OFF UR RECORD..IM ABOUT TO START THAT PROGRAM MYSELF IN APRIL..OR U MIGHT JUS HAVE TO DO COMMUNITY SERVICE BUT I WOULD RATHER GET IT TAKEN OFF MY RECORD..PLUS THE JAILS ARE OVER CROWDED THEY HAVE BETTER THINGS TO WORRY ABOUT THEN A 25 $ NECKLACE LOL..I WONT BE SURSPRISED IF THEY JUS THROW THA WHOLE THING OUT U MIGHT GET LUCKY IN JUS LEARN FROM THIS
